At Southern Granary, planning your wedding is designed to feel simple and supported. You have the freedom to choose your own vendors or work with our trusted partners, with the added benefit of an in-house day-of wedding coordinator included to help everything flow smoothly.
On the wedding day, our team handles the details behind the scenes—full setup and teardown of tables, chairs, and ceremony arbors, along with on-site venue team members to assist with lighting changes, climate adjustments, parking and shuttle service, and welcoming vendors and guests—so you can stay focused on celebrating.
Set among rolling meadows, wooded surroundings, and a restored grain mill, Southern Granary offers a flexible indoor and outdoor wedding venue designed for comfort, ease, and a relaxed countryside celebration.

Your rental includes exclusive access to the venue, ceremony in the Meadow, on the Patio, or Inside, climate-controlled Reception room and Suites, farmhouse tables and wood chairs, set-up and take-down, and in-house Coordinator to help the day run smoothly.
We also provide flexible vendor options, parking support, and thoughtful experienced guidance throughout the planning process to support your dream day!

Yes, Southern Granary is a fully climate controlled wedding venue! Our reception space, bridal suite, groom’s den, and restrooms have heat/AC year-round.

A: Reserve your wedding date by signing the online contract and completing the first payment of $1000.

After the initial payment to reserve, remaining payments are scheduled at regular intervals, with the final balance due 16 days prior to your first day at Southern Granary.
You’re welcome to pay ahead of schedule or break payments into smaller amounts — as long as the next payment amount due is met by the scheduled date.
We accept online payments by credit card or bank draft, as well as checks and cash.

A: Yes! An SG In House Day-of Coordinator and two SG team members are included! Your SG wedding coordinator handles all the day-of details to help ensure your wedding runs smoothly and as stress-free as possible.
The team members drive the golf cart shuttle for Meadow ceremonies, handles facility needs (including trash), dim the lights during dancing, manage the climate control for maximum comfort, and more!

A: There are spacious parking areas, either in the gravel parking area or in the grassy field next to it. Anyone with accessibility issues is welcome to pull up right next to the Patio and use the ramp to easily get inside. And for a Meadow ceremony, the golf cart can drive right up to the aisle for seating.

Southern Granary wedding venue is about 25 minutes from Lynchburg, VA, just two miles off the highway in Altavista.

A: We host up to 200 guests indoors, with meadow, patio, and indoor ceremony options. We do all set-up & take-down of all tables and chairs for you!

A: We offer a Favorites Caterer discount when you book one of our trusted partners most of who are local to the Altavista or Lynchburg area. These caterers are easy to work with, take wonderful care of couples, and make the day run so much smoother for everyone.

A: Yes! The Southern Guesthouse in Altavista is our large 100 year old house one block away!

A: Yes! Sparklers are popular exit choice! We have a metal can that the sparklers must immediately go into afterwards. Ribbon sticks, glowsticks, bubbles are also allowed.
